This is one of the many charming Missions, built and survived throughout the state of Arizona, when the Southwest was populated mostly by Indians and Spanish Settler's. It has been restored several times, but has still kept her "Old Southwest" looks.
It is located South of Tempe, on one of the smallest reservations in the middle of the Phoenix Metropolitan area. "Our Lady of Guadalupe" is still in full service and during Easter, original ceremony's are performed by the Yaqui Indians. A limited amount of visitors are allowed, but no pictures or video can be taken. Watching those age old dances are fascinating!! |
